The world's last sea-going paddle steamer has been taken out of service after crashing into a landing pier on the Clyde. The Waverley suffered considerable damage as it berthed at Dunoon. It is now being repaired at James Watt Dock in Greenock. There were 700 passengers were on board at the time of the incident. Twelve passengers were treated for minor injuries. In a statement posted on the Waverley Excursions Limited website, the company said: "Whilst berthing at Dunoon the Paddle Steamer Waverley landed heavily on the pier. "There were passengers on board, 12 of whom sustained very minor injuries which were attended to by a doctor. The ship has returned to her berth in Glasgow. "Sadly the Waverley's Jazz Cruise scheduled for tonight Friday the 26th, will have to be postponed while assessments are made and repairs carried out."
